ugh, it pains me to read so many negative things about my country, but here
goes..
I do agree that Bush is not the brightest tool in the shed, but as to his
actions after 9/11, they were influenced not only by his own inexperience as the
president, and the evident lack of sympathy from the rest of the world, but also
by the raging emotions of the Americans, who, at the time, were demanding
vengence and other things of that nature. And I know here, in this slightly
hick-ish town, some people were demanding way too outlandish things which
unfortunately proved the ignorance of some Americans. And now, like SHK said,
we're past the point of no return in Iraq. So I say again, that nobody is
perfect and under the circumstances, I think Bush is doing the best he can,
which until the next election, is all we can hope for.
However, to stereotype all Americans as idiots is completely unfair and shows
the ignorance of the person who does such stereotyping. It certainly has become
exceedingly fashionable to hate America, but if you follow the politics and
ideas from the eighteenth century when America was first being established, up
til now, you'll find that America was always hated, for various reason, many of
which are still inbred in people's thinking today, and have nothing to do with
the stupidity of Americans. Calling us ignorant is just an excuse to exacerbate
the issue, and a bad one at that, because honestly, you're not going to sit
there and tell me that every person in every other country is so much more
informed than us 'ignorant Americans'. Every society has that side to it,
American or not.
And as to not signing the Kyoto agreement, isn't there something to the effect
that all the emissions from the world don't effect the evironment anymore than
cow emissons do?
Ok, while I don't support some of the decisions Bush has made, I agree with
Mnemeth, I mean no one's perfect, and part of the reason why the war on Iraq has
turned out so badly is because of the people in that country. It's like when the
police is called to take care of a Domestic, and as they're dragging the husband
off to jail, the wife starts beating up the police saying 'don't take him away!'
Soldiers can only do so much, i mean the people have to make a conscious
decision to change.
I also think that war should only be reserved as plan z, but honestly (and i
don't mean offense to anyone) a big part of the reason the Muslim terrorists
hate America so much is because we're techinically a country that believes in a
christian God, which they see as blasphemy, and as long as people who hate
Americans for this reason stay in power, America's going to keep having to go
through 9/11-like events.
